Why Blogger is Better than WordPress

Made you look! Why Blogger is better than Wordpress

This post is not to convince you that Blogger is better than WordPress. I am not going to convince you of that because if you have found this post you are probably mad and wonder why someone in their right mind would even think that. You have already made up your mind about Blogger and WordPress and I am not going to convince you otherwise.

Why Blogger is Better than WordPressOn the contrary, you came here to convince ME that your love of WordPress so outweighs Blogger that you just had to enlighten me on the subject.

Like I said, this post is NOT about why Blogger is better than WordPress and it is much more about why your opinion sucks! Well, not really but it sounded good to say that!

Okay, so maybe I am being a bit too harsh with that one but I decided that after reading the comments on the post I wrote that compared Blogger vs WordPress that I wanted to make sure that readers around the globe knew how I felt about opinions in general.

Why Blogger is Better than WordPressOpinions are like something else on your body and in general they stink! We all have them - opinions that is - and we love to tell everyone we know what we think. Some people do it face to face and others go online behind the safety of the monitor to share their valued opinion. That is, after all, why we set up blogs and websites. The world MUST know my opinion!

For those who know me in "real life" you know that I am fair and give everyone a chance. You know that I value each person's opinion and ideas and believe each person has something unique and valuable to share. Just because I know a lot about something doesn't mean that you can't teach me "a thing or two" and I am always willing to change my opinion if someone can share with me a better way of doing something, give me a lightbulb moment, or explain why their way or opinion is the best. I know I am not always right and am the first to say so.

The comments on my post comparing Blogger to WordPress showed me that readers THINK that WordPress is the best and some of them even say why they think that way. They try to persuade me that WordPress is of value and should be considered above all else.

Here's what I think

Since this post isn't about why Blogger is better than WordPress then what IS it about? It is about why your opinion is just that - your opinion.

We all use things in our lives because they have value to us in some way. Each of us picks what food we will eat each day, what car we choose to drive, what brand of computer - whether it is a PC or MAC - don't get me started on that one, what pets we will have - birds, cats, dogs, fish, snack, ostrich, porcupine - whether we will wear short or long hair, blue jeans or dress pant, what software we will install and use on our computer, and back to the topic - what blog platform we will use.

If I choose to use Blogger over WordPress it is because it has value to me and fits my personality better. I weighed the Pros and Cons and Blogger won out. And, if you haven't guessed it - it was my opinion! This entire site is all about my opinion. So, why do readers and the blogging population in general feel the need to tell me and others that our choices are wrong? That my opinion does not have value?

This reminds me of when I was a software trainer. Students would take my word as if I were God and my training was the Bible. If I said use Microsoft Publisher instead of Adobe PageMaker or Quark Express they would. Why? Because they valued my opinion and I MUST be right because I was the expert.

When I was a web designer I would battle with colleagues over which web design software was the best and must be used at all costs - Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe Dreamweaver. And, you probably guessed it. I used and still use Microsoft FrontPage.

Okay, here's a little aside about web design and blogging software and my opinion to boot! If you have a little talent and knowledge you can use whatever you want and create something amazing with it. I have seen cut-rate blogs and websites designed with Dreamweaver and WordPress so you can't tell me that the software or platform has a lot to do with it. I can take a blank screen and use straight HTML and design something better. So, the software is just a part of the whole scenario.

Why do I seem to buck the norm?

I don't do it on purpose. I try ALL of the software or platforms and make a logical, educated decision based on the tools each one offers + what fits into my personality.

Why Blogger is Better than WordPressSo, in conclusion, when someone tries to tell you that you MUST use Blogger, you MUST use WordPress, you MUST use Dreamweaver, you MUST buy a Mac, you MUST wear green - ikkk - DON'T LISTEN!

Your opinion is just as valuable as theirs and you need to believe in yourself. Don't let someone tell you that you are wrong when you know you are right for YOU. You may not be right for them but for you what you use, eat, do, how you spit on the pavement is what you should be doing. It took me a long time to learn this lesson and I am now passing it on to you.

On aside, I am not mad at my readers or the comments. I am sure you think so by now. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, if you know me or can read through the lines there is a lot of humor in this post. I am just using this story to enlighten you about life and what I believe. You can call this post my philosophy on life. I want you to think for yourself and make your own judgments. Hey, you might even figure out that Blogger is better than WordPress after all Blogger is better than WordPress

I have tried Wordpress and a few others, but Blogger is where it's at !

I don't have the patience to play with code all day and Blogger brings a user friendly aspect to the dance.

As both systems are really good I can't see there should be any difference for unexperienced bloggers. Clearly all systems has got pros and cons but in the end we do choose one. And frankly I can't see why it should be a bad thing telling why to pick one over the other. As long as you can motivate your opinion.

I'll be honest. I just started using both platforms, and I find both equally non-intuitive to use. There are some things about each which I'd be using and think "Hey, this makes it easy" but also features that make me go "Why they do it like this?" For example, I really like the drag-n-drop engine on blogger, but I also really like the boxy, neutral designs of Wordpress themes. Over time, I'll probably settle on one, and may come back here to let you know!

I started with Blogger, then tried Wordpress (why??) anyway, now I simply have to weed through getting Godaddy to link to Blogger so I can use all the domains I have 'on hold'.

Opinions: You're right, everybody has at least one!

Well, I've used Wordpress for 2 years, I think Wordpress is more flexible than blogger.I've used blogger for 1-2 months but I found that it's not flexible (or I don't understand it, may be) After reading your article, I will be back to try it again and will let you know the result.

Blogspot is great for casual bloggers. But if you want to get the most out of your blog you should consider WP.

I love blogger, because WP for me is bit complicated, where as blogger is very easy to use.

I actually use both blogger and wordpress. Each one has its pros and cons... like you said everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.

I think you're absolutely right - it has to be what is right for you individually - everyone is different. I hate when people tell me what to do. I know that blogger is a lot easier to use, but it's a bit boring compared to wordpress.

I started out with the free Blogger platform but then I moved over to self-hosted WordPress blogs after Blogger deleted all of my blogs without notice.

I know blogger is better than WordPress my reason is that WordPress is open source meaning that it is more likely to be hacked than blogger blogs plus hosting is free on blogger where else WordPress is not i have both a blogger and WordPress blog i'm a web designer/developer by the way your contact link is not working because you have the wrong format it should be

<a href='mailto:thecomputerlady@snet.net'>Contact me</a>

I prefer wordpress because it seems like the community is more helpful with not only technical and blogging help, but actually making themes and plugins to benefit everyone.

The actual comparison should be between wordpress.com and blogger, not with the self-hosted wordpress, because there is no comparison and is like comparing apples and oranges.

Well you know now that web 2.0 is upon us everyone thinks that they can create content. And for most people the easiest way to do it is by posting their opinions on differnt blogs and sites.

I have come to the same conclusion. I just think that Blogger meets all my needs at the moment. And it's very straightforward.

With Wordpress you've got to find a good host. But you might just be unlucky and it goes bust or is unreliable.

With Blogger, it's all-in-one. And it's owned by Google so it's not going belly-up any time soon!

Wordpress has lots more functionality presently. But apparently that's changing. And even if Blogger doesn't ever catch up completely, it will keep advancing and before too long it will be where Wordpress is now.
