The number one search engine marketing trick is to work with the way search engines work. Search engines don’t comprehend pictures but instead, depend on matching the keywords that the searcher put into the search box with the keywords that are included on a website or blog. For this reason, you should always try to place as many terms and keyword phrases as possible on your website or blog. Determine the different keywords that potential visitors would type into the search box and try to incorporate those words into your website. If use photos in your website, be sure to attach "alt text" tags to all these photos to allow the search engines can add them to the site content. If you don't use alt text tags the photos won't be indexed.
How do you add text to a photo? You can go into the HTML if you need to and when you see the tag for the photo you add alt="name of photo here" somewhere in the tag. Example:

The keywords should also be included in the domain name since the search engines interpret them as well as the keywords you use on your website or blog. This is a critical search engine marketing technique. If your business name is Joe's Asphalt in Charlottesville, Virginia, or Staunton, Virginia, you should try to purchase charlottesvillepaving.com or waynesboropaving.com for example. Make sure the keyword is in the URL even if you have to leave the name of your business out to get your website or blog ranked on the search engine. If no one can find your business on the search engine it doesn't matter if they can remember your business name or not.
The title tag, which is on the beginning of your html document, should include the relevant keywords used by people trying to find what your website or blog has to offer. Your description tags, your meta description and meta keyword tags are not visable on your website but will display in text format when the search engines list their results. It is important to include terms that entice the visitor to the website in your meta tags. Don't just dump the same keyword phrases in your domain name, meta tags and other file names since most search engines will interpret that as spam and just put your website or blog in the "SandBox" (meaning you won't come up on the search engine at all for quite awhile). As an alternative, try to incorporate various similar words that are similar to your keyword phrases.
Use localized terms in your meta tags to further ensure top search engine ranking in your local area. If you business is in the Staunton, Virginia area for example, be sure to include some of those terms in your keyword phrases.
Patience is key since once you have completed the required changes to your website, it may still take a bit of time for the search engines to verify that fact and push you up in the rankings.
Make sure that your body text is limited to around three-hundred words and that your relevant keyword phrases are injected at regular intervals instead of just bunching them in one part of your page.
If you implement these techniques, you should see the search engines boost your website's ranking. Continue to implement different search engine marketing methods to keep your site on top because your competitors will be trying to pass you and are learning how to be search engine marketers as well.
